A former owner of a classic car business is back behind bars in Texas after violating the terms of his bond as he awaits his upcoming trial. Geoffrey Tyler Wood, 28, and his father, Stephen Craig Wood, 68, were both arrested in August 2008 for running a classic car business in Montgomery County, that bilked over $1.4 million from buyers and sellers through Internet sales.
The initial investigation involved around 13 vehicles valued at approximately $517,920. Additional complaints were filed after records from the business were seized in fall 2008 by the Montgomery Sheriff's Office Auto Theft Task Force and the business was closed. Complaints of fraudulent Internet sales were filed from multiple buyers in the U.S. and in several foreign countries including Saudi Arabia, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Norway, New Zealand, Australia, and Belgium.
The former business, American Classic Cars was located at 800 West Davis, Conroe, Texas, and was not associated with another business in the area with a similar name.
