1925 Dobles Model E Steam Car was fairly high priced in 1925 at $18,000. It featured a steam engine that could produce 1,000 ft-lbs of torque and could reach operating temperature using kerosene burners in as little as 90 seconds. With a top speed of roughly 100mph the Dobles was a top performer and to this its emissions would meet California’s strict emission standards.
Less than 50 Dobles were ever built before the company went out of business in 1931, several manufacturers have based prototypes on steam powered engines, but nothing has been in production the Dobles.
