Eventually, maybe July 9 will become the Mardis Gras of the old car hobby. Or at least a day for hobbyists to drop the top, fire up their old cars and maybe chirp the tires.



This week, the U.S. Senate passed Senate Resolution 513 (S. Res. 513) to designate July 9 "Collector Car Appreciation Day." According to a statement by the Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA), which backed the plan, the resolution was the result of an "effort undertaken by ARMO (Automotive Restoration Market Organization) as a means to raise awareness of the vital role automotive restoration and collection plays in American society.
