Driving Your Car In the WinterPros and Cons of Driving Your Car In the Winter
By: Candice Hubbard
Northside Driving Schools don't just stop giving driving lessons because the weather turns cold. No indeed. They take their clients out on the roads in all kinds of weather to ensure that they get the best driving experience possible. The only way to do that is to have them drive through snow, ice, rain, whatever weather the day brings. That's a great attitude to have but there are both pros and cons of driving a car in the wintertime.
Volkswagen GTI Diminished ValueUsing a Diminished Value appraisal following a car accident is a great way to ensure you receive the full amount of money lost from the accident.
Our client had a 2007 Volkswagen GTI 2.0T that was damaged during an auto accident in Fort Worth, Texas. The insurance agency performed their standard appraisal and offered the owner around $4,200 to cover the repairs on the vehicle. The car owner and his lawyer came to Ron Gibson, owner of AAN of Dallas, to have a Diminished Value appraisal completed. This type of appraisal finds the decreased market value of a wrecked vehicle even after the car has been properly repaired. Owners do not realize the diminished value of their vehicle until they try to sell.
Divorce AppraisalsA few years ago, the AAN of Dallas owner, Ron Gibson, helped a car owner as she prepared for her divorce. She had six cars that needed to be fully appraised to determine their current values and chose our company for advice and support.
The cars being appraised included four Mustangs, a Thunderbird, and a Fairlane 500. Ron took over 500 photos of the cars to incorporate into the separate appraisals. The total appraised value of the vehicles was over $200,000.
Diminished Value: What Our Customers Need to KnowFollowing a car accident, we depend on our insurance companies to cover the cost of the repairs. The goal is to get our cars back looking and performing as if nothing happened. Later on down the road, when we are ready for a new car and decide to sell it or trade it in, we find out how much value was lost due to the accident.
Late Great Chevy show, Norma's restaurant in North DallasMy husband, Rob, and I set out to enjoy that beautiful Texas weather we had in July. Our first stop was at the Late Great Chevy show held at Norma's restaurant in North Dallas. There was a great group of cars that came out for the evening. You can see I found the car of my dreams!
The weather was so nice. We were in no rush. There were a few Chevelles, a Nova, a 1951 BelAir Deluxe, a 1970 AMC AMX, and many more that looked amazing. A Sprint SP at the end of one of the rows caught our eyes as we walked on to the lot where the show had already started. The owner said he bought it out of a junk yard in 1984. It had been totaled with the entire right side of the vehicle smashed in. To him, it was his dream project.
The Trade that Made a DifferenceThe interior is amazing. The exterior is pristine. The custom pin striping and hand painted designs are so very unique. Did I mention that it is still driven on a regular basis?
Jim and Carol Long purchased a 1932 Ford Coupe in the hopes of having a great collector car to drive around town and on cross country trips. Long drives in this national award winning '32 Coupe were not as comfortable as they hoped. Carol soon realized there had to be another car out there that would fill the purpose that the Coupe was not accomplishing.
