Ferdinand Porsche
Most people are familiar with the legendary Porsche legacy, but did you know Dr. Ferdinand Porsche was best known in his day for creating the first hybrid vehicle (gasoline-electric), and first developed the first electric hub motor.
Prof. Dr. Ing. h.c Ferdinand Porsche in 1996, was inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame and in 1999 posthumously won the award of Car Engineer of the Century.
Porsche's interest in the manufacture of tractors began in 1934 and continued until the early sixties.
In English use, Porsche is often pronounced as a single syllable without a final /ə/. However, the company's proper pronunciation "Porsha", as German language words do not have silent "e".
